2009 Ladies Christmas Brunch

WHITER THAN SNOW

Saturday, December 12th, was this year's annual NWCC Ladies Christmas Brunch and what a wonderful brunch it was. We had approximately 60 ladies attend and it seemed that everyone there had a wonderful time.

Tambra Landis lead the planning group that worked hard for several months to make sure this year's brunch would bless everyone. This group included Angela Sutton, Katrina Will, Shauny Ramsey, Kathy Ward, Ara Ann Duty, Sharon Cox, Kristy Scheuer, and Annetta McKain. (If you notice anyone's name missing please let me know so I can add them.)

There were door prizes (thank you Angela for pounding the streets to get donations for these wonderful gift baskets and to Katrina and others for helping to put the baskets together and making them look so beautiful!), a full table of fabulous food, a fantastic group of women of all ages, special music that blessed our socks off, a heart changing devotion from Tambra, and a morning of fantastic fellowship.

A BIG thanks to Connie Thompson for stepping up to lead the Women's Ministry Team and working to organize and encourage women in our church! Many exciting things are starting to happen in women's ministry. Keep watching this blog for updates on happenings.

Ladies Brunch was fun for all!

There were 39 ladies, both young and old, at the Ladies Brunch this morning. Chelsea Hemmen and her family did a GREAT job planning the event. There was a lot of yummy food to eat and the fellowship was wonderful.

We enjoyed music from Mavis Sack, Rebecca & Donna Willoughby, and Lori & Channel Hemmen. Each one did a beautiful job and everyone was blessed by their talents.

Amy Hemmen presented a lesson on God's command to us to be fruitful and multiply. She has books ("Be Fruitful and Multiply") available for only $8 if you are interested in purchasing one. If you are interested in attending either a Bible Study or a Sunday School Class to delve deeper into this subject please call Amy at 796-0517.

There are two women's groups getting ready to begin:
  • Mavis Sack will be leading a daytime Bible Study. If you would like to join this Bible Study, or get more information about the time or study material, please call Mavis at 283-6546.
  • Annetta McKain will be starting a "Caring & Sharing Dinner Group" this Friday, April 24th at 6:30. The plan is for each person to bring a card for someone who is on their heart, to share a meal and fellowship, pray for each person who had a card brought for them, then to sign words of encouragement and mail the cards. If you would like to be a part of this group we would love to have you! Just call Annetta, 440-6555, so she will know how many people to cook for and can give you directions to her home.

Tambra Landis took lots of photos that will be posted soon!

Ladies Brunch has been rescheduled

Due to the bad weather the Ladies Brunch (originally planned for tomorrow morning) has been rescheduled. It has been rescheduled to 4/18 (tentatively) but that has to be confirmed with the church office. A new post will be made to advise when the date is confirmed.

Hope everyone is snuggly warm and enjoying being "snowed" in.

NEW WOMEN'S MINISTRY TEAM

A few months ago several ladies went to Manhattan Christian College to their annual Women's Conference. A good time was had by all and Connie Thompson felt called by the Lord to minister to the women of NorthWest Christian Church by forming a ministry team to implement new events and studies for the women of our church. Connie recruited Tambra, Joyce and Annetta to work with her on this wonderful adventure.

It seems the Lord was already at work as Chelsea and Laurie Hemmen felt called to organize a Women's Brunch. Their hard work and the positive response from the ladies of the church have been a positive sign that God is at work.

On March 11th Connie held her first Women's Ministry Meeting and the team was joined by several interested ladies from the congregation. It seems that the majority of those at the meeting would like the NWCC Women's Ministry to have events that provide an environment of safety, encouragment, and love. There is a large interest in Small Groups, Bible Studies, Encouragment Groups, and Community Outreach Events.

We have three groups available this quarter:
  • Mavis Sack will be teaching a daytime Bible Study -details of that study and meeting time will be provided later.
  • Annetta McKain is hosting the "Caring and Sharing Dinner Club". We will meet at Annetta's home for dinner and fellowship. Each person should think of someone who they would like to encourage and bring a card to send to that person. We will pray for each of those people and then write a word of encouragement to each and put the cards out to mail.
  • Tambra Landis is leading an Event Planning group. This group will be planning 3 special events this year and will need a lot of help in organizing, setting up, cleaning up, etc.

If you would like to be a part of any of these groups please call and let us know. We would be thrilled to have you join us.

Mark your calendar now and look forward to a special evening on Friday, June 5th starting at 7 PM. There are also plans in the works for the next quarter's groups that will begin in June.

Please be in prayer for NorthWest Christian Church and all the ministries within the church.
